Discover La Fourchette

If you're ever in Chiang Mai and looking for a spot that combines great food, cozy atmosphere, and a true local dining experience, look no further than La Fourchette. Nestled on 162/2 Prapokklao Road, Phra Sing, in the heart of Mueang Chiang Mai District, this charming diner has quickly become a favorite among locals and tourists alike. It’s not just a place to grab a bite-it's a place to savor flavors that reflect both global and local influences.

Walking into La Fourchette, you’re greeted by the warm, inviting vibe that sets it apart from many eateries in the area. The restaurant’s design reflects a perfect blend of rustic and modern elements, with wooden tables, soft lighting, and an open kitchen that adds to the overall relaxed feel. It’s the kind of place where you can comfortably sit down with friends or enjoy a quiet meal by yourself while watching the chefs prepare your dish.

The menu is where La Fourchette truly shines. Whether you're craving traditional Thai flavors or something a bit more international, there's something for everyone. For starters, try the crispy spring rolls filled with a mix of fresh vegetables and herbs that are perfectly paired with a tangy dipping sauce. The balance of textures in this dish sets the tone for the rest of the meal: light, flavorful, and well-thought-out.

Main courses at La Fourchette offer an impressive range. One standout is the pad thai, a Thai classic with a twist. The noodles are stir-fried to perfection with just the right amount of crunch, and the dish is packed with flavor-tamarind, peanuts, and a hint of lime come together in a burst of freshness. It’s a dish that could easily become your go-to, especially if you’re in the mood for something familiar with a touch of culinary creativity.

For something a little different, you can try the French-inspired roasted chicken, which is marinated in a blend of herbs and spices, giving it a deep, savory flavor. It’s tender and juicy, served alongside roasted vegetables that add a great contrast in texture and flavor. The blend of flavors speaks to the restaurant’s unique ability to merge Thai influences with European techniques, offering an experience that feels both familiar and exciting.

Desserts at La Fourchette are a must-try, especially for those with a sweet tooth. The crème brûlée here is exceptional, with a perfectly caramelized sugar top that cracks beautifully when you dig in. Underneath, the custard is smooth and rich, making it the ideal ending to your meal. It’s a crowd-pleaser, no doubt, and one of those dishes that will leave you thinking about your next visit.

Beyond just the food, what really sets La Fourchette apart is the genuine attention to detail and the staff’s commitment to making sure every guest feels at home. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable, often offering suggestions or explaining the finer details of the menu. It’s clear that the team behind the restaurant values providing a personalized dining experience.

The location of La Fourchette also plays a significant role in its appeal. Situated on Prapokklao Road, it’s centrally located, making it a perfect spot to stop by after a day of exploring the cultural sites in Chiang Mai. Whether you're wandering through the Old City, visiting temples, or shopping at local markets, La Fourchette is ideally positioned to offer a relaxing break with delicious food.

What also makes La Fourchette stand out is its commitment to quality ingredients. Each dish is prepared with fresh, local produce, ensuring that the flavors are vibrant and authentic. The combination of quality ingredients, expert cooking techniques, and a relaxed atmosphere makes it a favorite for both tourists looking for a taste of local cuisine and locals who enjoy a familiar yet innovative take on Thai and international dishes.

If you’re planning to visit La Fourchette, it’s worth considering making a reservation, especially during peak dining hours. The restaurant has a loyal following, and it’s often busy, a testament to the quality and consistency of the food. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual lunch or enjoying a leisurely dinner, it’s the kind of place that makes every meal feel like a special occasion.

In a city brimming with dining options, La Fourchette stands out not only for its delicious food but also for the experience it offers. It’s not just a restaurant, but a celebration of flavors, culture, and community-an experience that every visitor to Chiang Mai should indulge in.

  • We arrived unplanned and without reservation, and managed to get a table for 4 upstairs. Service was great. The staff were polite and friendly. The food was great too. We ordered the duck with brandy, pan fried fish with onion sauce and beef stroganoff with mashed potatoes, onion soup, mushroom soup and a slice of raspberry cheese cake. We enjoyed the food very much. Thank you!

  • Amazing food. Some of the best I have ever had anywhere. We had the mixed green salad, shrimp appetizer (highly recommended) and tarragon chicken superb. Met the chef very passionate about his food. Highly recommended. Thank you

  • We loved it here! Ate with my family here a couple times in Chiangmai. Amazing food and incredibly attentive service. We took a pic with the chef. Will come back for sure!

  • We decided to not have Thai food for dinner and instead decided on French. We shared a pork Perrine (pictured), Caesar salad, and I had a duck confit with cherry and passionfruit sauce (pictured). All was delicious with fantastic service. Would highly recommend.

  • This has been one of the most amazing meals I've ever had. Perfectly cooked duck in Armagnac. The staff are extremely friendly and so nice. Meet the chef and just as wonderful. I highly recommend it, it is wonderful

  • I never write reviews but this one is worthy of it. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I had the pumpkin and ginger soup, followed by the grilled chicken with mushroom sauce, and finished with the recommended dessert. The chicken was succulent and it was all delicious! Service was excellent and the restaurant itself had a nice atmosphere. Just a shame there weren’t more customers, but I guess tourists are mostly here for the local cuisine.

  • Ah, perfect service, a nicely set table, preheated dishes that kept food warm. The pumpkin ginger soup was just right. The saltimbocca had some unfamiliar flavors from the Thai spices, and no capers, but was very good. Not only was the peach melba a work of art, it was the perfect ending to the meal. Monica "Mo" was the ideal server - charming, polite, deferential, and pleasant. And all for 1070 baht.
